My Art Journaling adventure started with a wide ruled lined notebook and a multi-color retractable pen in the 4th grade. It came natural to fill the pages with scribbles, doodles, random words that popped into my head and the classic 90’s “Stussy (S)”. Even today the majority of my pages are filled with images and color, with very little words. I enjoyed adorning my notebook pages with stickers, a habit that I never did outgrow.
Over the years my wide ruled paper advanced to college ruled paper, then to white card stock, and now sketchbooks and handmade journals, but they’ve all held the same special place in my heart. Today I use a variety of journals and my supplies of choice have “grown-up” to include paint, collage and even sculpture. My random words have evolved to mindful reflections and positive affirmations.
- My journals are for me and my creative expression
- I still have terrible grammar and spelling and that’s okay
- And there is no wrong way to Art Journal
